Ethics Policy

Last Updated: September 11, 2026

The NewsVexa Ethics Policy sets out the principles we aim to follow while reporting news, reviewing public submissions, publishing opinions and conducting fact checks.

NewsVexa believes journalism earns trust through its actions. Accuracy matters, but so do fairness, independence, transparency and accountability.

Our aim is to create a platform where professional editorial judgment and responsible public participation can work together.

1. Accuracy Before Speed

Being first should never be more important than being accurate.

NewsVexa aims to verify significant factual claims using appropriate and credible sources before presenting them as established facts.

When information is still developing, we should make that uncertainty clear.

2. Independence

Editorial decisions should be based on news value, public interest and available evidence.

Political pressure, advertisers, sponsors, personal relationships or commercial interests should not determine the conclusion of independent reporting or fact checking.

3. Fairness

NewsVexa aims to report significant issues fairly and with appropriate context.

Fairness does not necessarily mean giving every claim equal weight. Evidence, relevance and credibility matter.

Where serious allegations concern an identifiable person or organization, we should consider whether seeking their response is appropriate before publication.

4. News and Opinion Must Remain Distinct

Readers should be able to understand whether they are reading:

News Reporting | Opinion | Analysis | Fact Check | Sponsored Content | Public Submission

Opinion represents the perspective of its author and should not be presented as independently verified fact.

5. Public Participation

NewsVexa believes ordinary people can identify important stories before journalists or large media organizations notice them.

Readers may therefore bring local issues, observations, photographs, videos, opinions and potential stories to our attention.

However:

Public Submission ≠ Automatically Verified News

Our editorial team may review, verify, edit, seek additional evidence or decline submitted material.

6. Sources

Sources should be treated responsibly.

Where possible, NewsVexa aims to rely on primary or credible sources for significant factual claims.

Information found on social media should not automatically be considered verified simply because it has received many views or shares.

7. Anonymous Sources

There may be circumstances where a source has a legitimate reason not to be publicly identified.

Anonymous sourcing should be handled carefully, especially when the information involves serious allegations.

Where appropriate, editors should understand the source’s identity and assess the credibility of the information before publication.

8. Conflicts of Interest

Editors, reporters and contributors should avoid allowing personal or financial interests to improperly influence their work.

Where a meaningful conflict cannot reasonably be avoided, disclosure may be appropriate.

NewsVexa should not intentionally disguise promotional material as independent journalism.

9. Gifts and Benefits

Journalists and contributors should not accept gifts, payments or benefits intended to influence NewsVexa coverage.

Receiving advertising revenue from a business should not guarantee favourable editorial coverage.

10. Political Coverage

NewsVexa may report critically on governments, political parties, politicians and public institutions when newsworthy.

The same evidence-based standards should apply regardless of political affiliation.

Our journalism should not intentionally manipulate facts to favour or harm a political party or candidate.

11. Fact Checking

Fact checks should evaluate claims and evidence, not the popularity or identity of the person making the claim.

Where evidence is insufficient, we should avoid claiming certainty merely to produce a stronger headline.

Our detailed standards are available in the Fact-Checking Policy.

12. Privacy and Public Interest

Not every piece of private information that can be obtained needs to be published.

NewsVexa should consider whether publishing personal information genuinely serves a legitimate public-interest purpose and whether unnecessary harm can reasonably be avoided.

13. Children and Vulnerable People

Extra care should be taken when reporting stories involving children and vulnerable individuals.

Names, photographs and identifying details should not be published merely because they are available if disclosure could create unnecessary harm or privacy concerns.

14. Crime and Allegations

Being accused, questioned, investigated or arrested does not itself establish guilt.

NewsVexa should use careful language and distinguish allegations from established facts or judicial findings.

Sensational presentation should not replace accurate reporting.

15. Images, Videos and Headlines

Images, thumbnails and headlines should not intentionally create a materially false impression of the underlying story.

Old or unrelated photographs and videos should not be represented as evidence of a current event.

AI-generated or illustrative visuals should not intentionally be presented as authentic documentary evidence of an event that did not occur as depicted.

16. Corrections

NewsVexa should not knowingly leave significant factual errors uncorrected.

When credible evidence demonstrates a meaningful error, we aim to correct or clarify the content appropriately.

Our Corrections Policy explains this process in greater detail.

17. Advertising and Sponsored Content

Readers should be able to distinguish advertising from independent journalism.

Sponsored or promotional material should carry an appropriate disclosure where necessary.

Advertisers should not be allowed to purchase favourable Fact Check conclusions or control independent editorial reporting.

18. Plagiarism and Attribution

NewsVexa contributors should not copy another publisher’s original reporting and present it as their own.

Sources should be appropriately credited where required, and third-party copyrighted material should be handled according to our Copyright & Content Usage Policy.

19. Artificial Intelligence

NewsVexa may use AI and other digital tools to assist with suitable parts of its workflow.

However, AI-generated information can contain errors.

Important factual claims should therefore be checked against appropriate sources before publication. AI should not be used to fabricate quotations, sources, evidence or events.

20. Accountability to Readers

Readers should have a way to question our reporting, suggest corrections and raise issues they believe deserve attention.

NewsVexa therefore views its audience not merely as consumers of information, but also as participants in a responsible news ecosystem.

Our Ethical Commitment

NewsVexa’s approach can be summarized in five principles:

Accuracy • Fairness • Independence • Transparency • Accountability

And our public-participation model adds another:

Listen to the people — but verify before presenting claims as established news.
